Emma Raducanu reached the third round in three out of four major tournaments this year.

Britain's Emma Raducanu has pulled out of her remaining competitions in 2025 due to the illness she has been battling for the last week and a half.

The 22-year-old was due to play in Tokyo and Hong Kong but has decided to fly home to rest and recuperate ahead of launching next year's training.

These plans will involve her coach Francisco Roig, as the pair will keep partnering in 2026.

Raducanu underwent blood pressure monitoring in her opening round with Ann Li in the Wuhan tournament and retired when behind 6-1 4-1 on a day with extreme humidity.

She needed once more medical attention at this week's Ningbo Open, where she lost in three sets to Zhu Lin, a Chinese wildcard in the opening round.

Her movement was far from freely in the third set versus Zhu because of a lower back issue that has affected her during parts of the season.

Such performances meant an encouraging season, in which she climbed into the international top 30 for the first time for the first time since 2022, finished with a trio of defeats.

The athlete was close to victory with three match points then was defeated by Pegula in round three in the Beijing tournament last month.

She secured 28 victories this year and made it to the semi-final round in the Washington tournament, but her most impressive week was at the Miami Open in March.

Ranked first in Britain made the last eight of a premier WTA event, defeating eighth seed Emma Navarro en route before losing in three sets to fourth-ranked Pegula.

Her coach was Mark Petchey from the Miami event through Wimbledon, with Roig assuming the role ahead of the US Open.

The first plan with the former trainer of Nadal was for the remainder of the year but the partnership will continue, with a training session scheduled late this year.

Raducanu told that a three-day test period with Roig after Wimbledon was like a "secret mission" as they tried to keep the meeting secret.

The player was close to overcoming Sabalenka, the world number one at their initial event as a team in August's Cincinnati tournament.

The coach also accompanied Raducanu in New York, where she reached the third round before being beaten by 2022 Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina.
