India's capital Rises to Dangerous Pollution After Diwali

On Tuesday morning citizens of the planet's dirtiest urban center encountered exposed to dangerously toxic air that registered in the "severe" level.

Alarming Air Quality Readings

Multiple areas of Delhi recorded an AQI over 500, which translates to a tenfold increase over the healthy limit established by the World Health Organization.

This pollution leads to elevated rates of neurological, heart and circulatory and lung diseases, and can potentially cause malignancies.

The pollution is estimated to be causing ten thousand early mortalities per year in the capital.
