The country's power facilities have faced increased strikes in the past few days

Throughout the evening, Moscow's aerial assaults have caused electricity outages in large parts of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv.

Nine people were injured while local people in eastern districts were plunged into darkness and dealt with disruption to water supplies, per reports from city officials.

Simultaneously, a seven-year-old child was lost their life in a distinct aerial attack in the southeastern region in the country's south-east, according to area administrators.

Moscow has escalated strikes on power infrastructure over the past few days, while the country's government has called for "substantial measures" from international partners to exert influence on Moscow.

"What's needed is not superficial actions but strong steps - from the US, European nations and the Group of Seven - in delivering defensive weapons and implementing penalties," was stated in a online statement.

He said that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and over thirty rockets targeted Ukraine's energy infrastructure, labeling such attacks as "cynical and calculated" and against "everything that sustains normal life" as temperatures become colder.

Energy officials said Russia was "launching a major assault" and maintenance teams were laboring to repair systems.

A barrage of missiles struck electrical systems and civilian homes in the capital.

Multiple people injured in the assaults on the city have been hospitalized, per statements from local officials.
