This Supernatural Story
The acclaimed director challenges his directorial skills with this nifty supernatural story shot entirely from the perspective of a ghost. After a clan with Lucy Liu as Rebekah plus Callina Liang as Chloe occupies their recent residence, the camera – AKA the Presence – shadows their actions. The premise is enjoyable that doesn't outstay its welcome, including a revelation that may be unexpected. Saturday 11 October, afternoon and evening times, Sky Cinema

The Black Phone Horror
Scott Derrickson's claustrophobic thriller remains effective despite the lack of a follow-up. Set in the late 70s in Denver, a series of disappearances has rendered the children on edge. Once Finney is kidnapped by the villain and held captive in a cellar, he anticipates a terrible outcome. However, the non-functional line on the wall continues to ring, with eerie communicators offering help, and the intuitive nightmares of Gwen, his sister may be his salvation. An effective horror. October 11th, nighttime, on Film4
The Eyes of Tammy Faye
In the struggle between faith and wealth, the winner is obvious for Mammon in this director's delightfully tacky film adaptation of the disgraced TV preacher and her felon spouse. The actor acts as the greedy Jim, who proclaims at the beginning, “God does not want us to be poor,”. The couple begin monetising the American public's religious faith. It's an extravaganza of bad interior design, excessive cosmetics and hypocrisy, yet Jessica Chastain manages to present the real-life figure with compassion. Next Tuesday, late night, Film4
