The Porcine Pardon: Hog Named Six Seven Pardoned by Miami-Dade Mayor.

Although not quite at the same level as granting clemency to holiday birds, but the county's top official experienced a Donald Trump moment this week by formally pardoning the life of a swine named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava performed the seasonal stunt at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the heart of Miami’s iconic Little Havana neighborhood.

“The swine has done no wrong. She is worthy of this pardon. No offenses are on her docket,” Levine Cava said in a speech with clear references to the sheer volume of executive clemencies issued from the start of the onset of a current administration.

“If we disregard eating half a dozen apples per day,” Levine Cava continued. “May this pig enjoy a prosperous future without fear.”

This ceremony, which both honors and questions the local cultural practice of consuming swine during the holidays, was established to emulate the annual turkey pardoning at the White House.

The animal, donated by a first responder, was given its name from the current slang trend of young people shouting “6-7” – inspired by a rap song lyric – often seemingly at random. The phrase became so widespread that a leading lexicon site recently declared “six-seven” its annual vocabulary selection.

A Peaceful Retirement

The pardoned swine is now set to enjoy its days at a countryside refuge “distant from barbecues and spits”, according to the event’s official press release.

“The pig pardon has become a beloved tradition to kick off the end-of-year celebrations,” said Eric Castellanos, in a decidedly positive message.

“It embodies the spirit of Miami: happy, diverse, and grounded in customs that unite the community. Every time, we are honored to observe tradition and kindness in a way only Miami can.”

Participants enjoyed a plant-based fare of spinach croquetas and strong coffee as they marked the swine's new lease on life.
