The Red Devils Poised to Secure Germany Striker Lea Schüller from the Bavarian Giants
The Women's Super League club are finalising completing the signing for prolific Germany striker Lea Schüller on a permanent transfer away from the Frauen-Bundesliga champions.
A Marquee Signing for the WSL Side
Schüller, who has half a year left on her deal, has been a consistent goalscorer for both club and country. Having scored more than 100 goals for Bayern and scored 54 times in 82 appearances for Germany. Her arrival is viewed as a marquee coup for the Women’s Super League side.
Departure from Bayern has been anticipated since she was seen fighting back tears while thanking the club's supporters following a win over Bayer Leverkusen recently.
It was reported in December that the German women's top flight was set to lose one of its leading forwards. Per multiple sources, the formalities for the transfer have now been completed.
Reliable Goalscoring to Boost United's Forward Line
The experienced striker's arrival is expected to provide a major uplift to United’s attacking options. She has been remarkably consistent with her finishing in the Bundesliga.
- For seven straight seasons, up to and including the last term, she reached at least a double-digit tally of league goals.
- She won the Golden Boot in the 2021-22 season with a haul of 16 goals.

Securing Schüller’s signature coincides with a period when United appear to be building positive momentum.
Their recent performances include securing a place in the Champions League knockout phase playoffs in a seeded position and a victory in the League Cup quarter-finals.

- The new deal for Japan midfielder Hinata Miyazawa, who has become fan favourite since arriving in 2023.
On Miyazawa’s new deal, a club official commented: “Miyazawa is now a vital part to the way we play. Her understanding of the game and skill allows her and the team to control and dictate play from central areas.”
The new defender, having arrived from a side from the American league, added: “You can feel how much the club have grown in the last few years, competing in one of the strongest leagues in the world and now featuring in the Champions League.”
